Vascular Lab
Vascular Surgical Associates utilizes and maintains Vascular Diagnostics Laboratories. Each lab is a fully accredited ICAVL vascular lab that provides many non-invasive studies to evaluate arteries and veins.
Our Vascular Labs accommodate same-day addons for acute scenarios at all of our locations. These labs can assist your referring physician with blood clots, artery blockages, aneurysms, and other information that may help with the diagnosis and treatment of your case.
Our Vascular Labs offer a number of services, including:
Venous Imaging
Venous imaging utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to evaluate the veins in the upper and lower extremities. This type of imaging is used to evaluate the venous system for the presence of deep and superficial venous thrombosis, venous reflux disease, and varicose veins.Aortic Imaging
Ultrasound is used to examine and evaluate the aorta and screen for a number of different vascular conditions and disorders. The use of ultrasound for aortic imaging is a crucial aspect of diagnosing abdominal aortic aneurysm, as well as many other vascular conditions.Arterial Duplex Exams
Arterial duplex ultrasounds are used to detect and monitor peripheral arterial disease (hardening of the arteries). This type of ultrasound can be used for both the upper extremities and the lower extremities. During this exam, ultrasound is used to measure blood flow in your arteries and detect any blockages. During this exam, the sonographer will also perform an ankle-brachial index (ABI). This compares the blood pressure in your arms and legs, and can be an indicator of peripheral artery disease.Renal Artery Ultrasounds
A renal artery ultrasound helps diagnose renal artery stenosis, the narrowing of one or both renal arteries.Mesenteric Artery Imaging
Mesenteric artery imaging is a process that involves using modern ultrasound technology to examine the mesenteric arteries. This type of ultrasound can be used to detect mesenteric artery stenosis (narrowing of the artery).Carotid Ultrasound
Carotid ultrasound is a type of imaging that involves using ultrasound technology to examine and evaluate the carotid arteries. This is a non-invasive exam, and can be used to detect narrowing of the carotid arteries. Carotid artery disease is caused by the buildup of plaque in the carotid arteries and if left untreated, could potentially lead to stroke.Dialysis Access Ultrasound
Dialysis access ultrasound is used to monitor AV-grafts and AV-fistulas. This type of ultrasound is useful in detecting problems with dialysis accesses. It is important to monitor grafts and fistulas regularly to ensure proper functioning to allow for adequate dialysis treatment. Dialysis access ultrasound can detect stenosis (narrowing of the graft or fistula) that can affect the functioning of the graft of fistula.Need More Information?
