Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is when a blood clot forms in a deep vein. The most common place for DVT to occur is in the legs. DVT affect two million Americans each year and is a condition should be taken seriously since blood clots can break loose, lodge in your lungs and block blood flow – this is called a pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism can potentially be fatal. If you suffer from deep vein thrombosis, you can count on our team at Vascular Surgical Associates to help you pursue effective treatment options.

Treatment
We can offer the following treatment options:
- Anticoagulation (blood thinner): there are many forms of anticoagulation that can be taken (pill, injection, IV).
- Catheter-directed thrombolysis: This procedure applies thrombolytic medication directly to the site of the blood clot. The purpose of this procedure is to rapidly break up the clot.
